One of the fun things about morning riding

One of the fun things about morning riding is seeing all of the other bikers and hikers on the trail based on their lights.  And, based on where their lights are, you can get a fairly accurate idea of which trail they are riding or hiking on.  This morning, I saw one rider coming up Canyon Hollow Trail, another rider on Jacobs Ladder trail and also a hiker who was half-way up Lone Peak.  Pretty cool.

Back to work tommorow....

at a job that I don't like and that I really don't want to work at.  In fact, I've told multiple management there that if I didn't have kids to support, I would just quit.  That may be the reason they have tried to terminate me twice now with bogus "writing performance plans."  The last "plan" was miserable - 3 months of submitting my writing to 2 attorneys who evaluated my writing for the littlest errors.  But, I passed again.  I really hope they won't try to fire me least until I can find a new job.

If things had been different, I would be sitting pretty in Washington DC right now.  Unfortunately, my Washington DC dream came to an end in 2008.

I think part of the problem is that I work in disability law and I don't think that is very prestigious at all.  So, when I write, I'm not exactly writing Supreme Court briefs - yet, that is what the Judges I work for expect for some reason.  Moreover, a Social Security disability Judge is about as prestigious as a traffic Judge in my opinion.  Not a real Judge at all if you ask me - more of an insurance adjudicator.  But, they certainly consider themselves prestigious.

Well, this is a cycling blog.  Enough negativity for one night.  Its just nice that I have cycling to pull me through.

Scripture of the day

Isaiah 50:1-2

1) Thus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

2)Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

Spooky ride home last night

The trail home was pitch black and coyotes were howling.  It was very Halloweenish.

Did you ever notice how.....

when you're out mountain biking and you hit some larger rocks, if you pedal faster right at that moment, you can usually glide over the rocks.  However, if you get timid and slow down, your front tire slams into the rocks and your bike loses all of its momentum.  Maybe life is like that.  When encountering problems, its best to just pedal faster and harder and glide though, rather than slowing down, losing momentum and coming to a standstill.

The fall colors are perfect right now so it should be a great time to get some photos for the blog.
